Director of QA Code: Location: Midwest Job Description: Work with co-packers to develop products that meet the criteria established by product development and sales and marketing. Have a deciding factor on who the suppliers are based on quality, food safety and cost. Plans, coordinates, implements and monitors quality assurance programs throughout the company and ensures consistent production of products consistent with established standards. Conducts formula audits, documents same and brings about corrective action as needed. Coordinates plant lot-tracking documentation across the company. Addresses Sanitation and GMP deviations on an immediate and ongoing basis and assist in training and development of production personnel in these key areas. Responds, records and communicates customer complaints according to the complaint procedure. Manages and coordinates according to defined company policies and procedures the disposition of hold product. Maintains and coordinates centralized log of product formulas and communicates changes. Supervise activities of QA Managers to ensure standardization of QA Auditors/Technicians across company. Ensures label specifications are accurate. Requirements: *MS or PhD Food Science or related. *8 -10 years experience quality assurance management with knowledge of a variety of food products – bakery, dairy, frozen foods, snacks and prepared foods. *Strong working knowledge of HACCP, auditing principles, GMP's, process control and labeling, SQF, BRC, statistics, computers and networking. *Innovative, forward thinker; able to create and recommend new and unique ways to enhance the overall performance of the business.. *Strong computer skills. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
